0 degrees of separation

Jennifer has posted a “whoa, cool” moment about the internet, which prompts the copycat in me to do the same.

i used to go on yahoo chat (cue dreamy music…) the year was 2002 and it was that glorious time of summer when classes are really dull and the weather is so glorious that you just want to….. sit in front of the computer all day, talking to pixels and still pretending to be sane at the end of the day.

anyways, the room i used to be in was called university years, and there was this one guy who also went to OU and occasionally logged on at the same time as i did.

so one day, he messaged me asking me if i wanted to meet up and hang out. then he asks for the name of the hall i was in (still on-campus). i said Bromley, he said that was the same one as he was in. so obviously i asked him which floor he was on. he said 9th, which was the same as mine and i told him so. he then asked for my room number which was 927(if i remember correctly). then no response. like something out of a simpsons episode, i hear a chair slide, door slam, a thud of running feet and three or four quick knocks on my door. i open it, and dude says “Hi, my name is Ken. we were just IMing on yahoo chat.” so that was my internet, whoa! moment

submitted for your viewing pleasure.

    :)

I have to say, for a moment I thought you were going to tell me it was your roommate, or worse… it was one of your split personalities! “I met myself on the internetz!”
