@ Kathleen: you live near a campus. there’s got to be an Indian Student Association/Council/whatever. find their diwali function and sneak in. they probably cover everything but the fireworks

there’s gifts. lots of gifts. mostly they go in your stomach, but sometimes you get other gifts as well :)
