the Shadab Hotel is where we finished our journey.
The journey that began at State central library, where i didn’t have a camera… i will tell you the story sometime soon :)

…abacab….
ZRM beat me to it. Pfffft.
Of course I’m not thinking of Steve Miller… tell me why, ZRM!!?!?
aif- is that ceiling tin or plaster?
That should have been now thinking of… not, not…
jennifer – that’s hand-crafted in plaster :)
I thought it was plaster, but wasn’t sure… One more architectural detail question… the bricks on the side? Are they mirrored?
bingo once again – mirrored- those shadab architects totally loved mirrors!
For a second I thought they might be glass block and that the light was coming through, not being reflected, but then, speaking reflections, I saw the reflections of the people sitting in front.
When was it built? It’s got a funky front!
it was built late 60s i think, at least in it’s current form.
Very cool angle on the photo. It’s kind of mesmerizing in its depth.
stamped tin ceilings were an affordable way to achieve those plaster effects, made possible in midwestern areas by the easy availabilities of tin and zinc. not surprised that the ceiling is plaster.
[shamless self-promotion] I clicked it![/shamless self-promotion]
