It definitely seems like the end of the world as we know it, and I am definitely feeling fine. I dont have anything particularly insightful to say, except to re-iterate the fact that these movements have only erupted now and were in the making for a long long time. Even the ones in Hyderabad and Wisconsin. It is just that the elite, and their preferred eyes and ears – the professional media, have chosen to ignore them till the point that they rose to a magnitude that could not be suppressed. While the internet has definitely helped, I dont think narrowing it down to ‘social networking’ is a good way of thinking about it. A better way to view it is as Clay Shirky has outlined in a very interesting little book, called ‘Here Comes Everybody‘
