One wishes, sometimes, to retire to a place where you get to see things like this all the time. But the things we own, own us, and all that so we return to the self-inflicted madness we call ‘civilization’ and from which our senseless cities have evolved.
Your commentary reminds me of a teacher I had in high school. He was thought of as rather eccentric… and in ways he was, but in other ways, he was probably just a hell of a lot smarter than most. I remember him saying he usually gave away extravagant presents he was given (a car, a camera, etc) because we don’t own them, they own us, and he’d rather be free.
I totally agree with your high school teacher’s methods.
